Preparation for Surgery

Leading up to your surgery:

  • If your surgery is being done in hospital, complete any admission forms 2 weeks before.
  • Arrange payment for your surgeon 1 week before.
  • Arrange payment for your anaesthetist (if required) 1 week before.
  • If your surgery is being done under IV sedation or general anaesthesia arrange for someone to take you to and from surgery.
  • If there any physical or medical changes to your condition leading up to the surgery, it’s important to contact your surgeon’s rooms to notify them of this as it may affect your procedure.
  • If your surgery is being done in hospital, contact them 1 business day prior to your surgery to obtain your fasting and admission time.

 

Day of surgery:

  • For any type of surgery and anaesthesia level, wear loose and comfortable clothing. It should be possible to roll up your sleeves without exerting too much pressure on the arm if required.
  • For any type of surgery and anaesthesia level, flat and closed in shoes should be worn.
  • Follow any fasting instructions given.
  • Plan your travel to allow ahead to arrive on time for your procedure, we want the procedure to be a pleasant experience not stressful. Call in advance to find out parking details if you are unfamiliar with the area of your procedure.
  • Perform your oral hygiene routine as normal (brushing teeth, flossing, mouth rinse etc)
